The borromini research is based on contrast; finding out how contrasting properties affect each other and how this gives way to something new.
Earth and air, matter and light, form such a contrast. I visualised my concept in a colour scheme that consists of two pyramids: from light towards darkness and vice versa.
Working with Canon allowed me to add greater precision and detail to the printed version of his system and to move from analytical thinking to being practical and mathematical. And yet, it feels the print has less ‘soul’ than his preparatory work. Printing is a reproduction, not part of the research to me.
